Looking to buy a new or second hand Vauxhall Astra?

The Vauxhall Astra has been in production for 30 years now and this is the sixth generation of a car that could well be classed as an institution on British roads. The Astra represents a car that is a good size for the UK market. Cars of lower/medium proportions account for about a fifth of the car sales here – Mini, Audi A3, BMW 1Series etc.

This means the Astra has always harboured immense potential, and it seems that now after 30 years it could have really come of age. Prices for the new Vauxhall Astra start at around £12,995 for the basic 1.4i VVT model. Because Vauxhall offer such an array of specifications these days, the price range reaches all the way up to around £25,000. For this you can get a 2.0CDTi 16v version. As ever the most appealing models probably lie somewhere in between. For around £17,000 you may be tempted by the 1.3CDTi 16v ecoFLEX. This model achieves around 58 mpg.

If however this is out of your price range, you can visit motors.co.uk where you can find like-new used cars at a much lower price. Vauxhall’s new brand of diesel engine is marketed under the ecoFLEX label, and they’re a great feat of diesel engineering. Most manufacturers now have their own planet friendly, low running cost brands like ‘Blue Motion’ from VW. EcoFLEX engines come in a good range of sizes, and if the 1.3 seems underpowered, you may wish to try the nippy 1.7CDTi Vauxhall Astra for not much more money. Vauxhall seems to practically let you configure/personalise your own car, and the amount of modern kit on offer is more readily associated with the premium price tags of the Audi’s or BMW’s. Ambient lighting is everywhere, and the needles on the dials cast out a pinpoint of light towards the rims, giving a space age sporty vibe.

The new Vauxhall Astra is winning critical acclaim across the board and as Vauxhall’s best selling vehicle, the Astra looks set to be a constant on our roads for years to come.
